The Necks are on tour and performing at Stadtgarten in Cologne, Germany tomorrow. Bill Frisell is in Trumpland, possibly working on a set list for his next scheduled live appearance on Sunday, 20 September at the State Theatre in Austin, Texas.

What’s the next best thing then? Turning up to The Jazzlab at 7.30pm on Tuesday 15 September to hear Spirograph Studies – an independent band described by bassist bandleader Tamara Murphy as “Bill Frisell meets The Necks”.

What’s more, if you’re a fan of the band’s most recent release, Melody Driver, this live gig will come with a special bonus – the chance to pick up a very limited edition 7″ vinyl release of two tracks (yet to be revealed) from that album. Spirograph Studies – Tamara Murphy electric and acoustic bass, Luke Howard piano, Fran Swinn guitar and James McLean drums – is releasing the vinyl in collaboration with Garden Seat Records of Castlemaine.
